Mintzberg is<br \/>\none of my favourite authors.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure if I have ever held MBAs in high regard. From the reviews<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve read Mintzberg is offering his insight into what is wrong with<br \/>\nthis form of &quot;management training&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.getabstract.com\/www\/general\/en\/ShowAbstract.jsp?dataId=3942\">getAbstract<\/a>: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nHe marshals a powerful array of facts to support his thesis that<br \/>\ngraduate schools of business have perpetrated one of the most successful<br \/>\ncon jobs in history. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.henrymintzberg.com\/mangnotmba.htm\">own site<\/a>, Mintzberg offers the observation that Convetional<br \/>\nMBA programs are offered for the wrong people &#8211; &quot;young people with<br \/>\nlittle or no experience&quot;; traing them in the wrong ways &#8211; &quot;to<br \/>\nemphasize analysis and technique&quot; and result in the wrong consequences<br \/>\n&#8211; &quot;a corrupting effect on the practice of management as well as<br \/>\non our organizations and societies&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, he argues, that these programs should only be offered to experienced<br \/>\npracticing managers: &quot;No one can create a manager in a classroom.<br \/>\nBut existing managers can significantly improve their practice in a<br \/>\nthoughtful classroom that makes use of that experience.&quot;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Henry Mintzberg Here&#8217;s a book I haven&#8217;t read but it is on my wish list.
