The were ushered into the school hall and<br \/>\nsat ready to hear to words of the great man.<\/p>\n<p>At the appropriate time in the assembly, Churchill was introduced<br \/>\nto the boys. He stood up solemnly, looked at the boys and said &#8220;Never<br \/>\ngive in, never give in, never, never, never, never give in.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>I was sure I first heard this story reading <a href=\"http:\/\/www.martingilbert.com\/\">Martin<br \/>\nGilbert&#8217;s<\/a> work<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Winston-S-Churchill-Finest-1939-1941\/dp\/0395344026\/ref=sr_1_24\/103-4884459-0945453?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1178436832&amp;sr=1-24\"><em>Winston<br \/>\nS. Churchill: Finest Hour, 1939-1941.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I will have to go and re-read Gilbert&#8217;s book because according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winstonchurchill.org\">The<br \/>\nChurchill Centre<\/a>, Churchill actually gave a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.winstonchurchill.org\/i4a\/pages\/index.cfm?pageid=423\">much<br \/>\nlonger speech<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>(Updated Churchill link 4\/4\/2010)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have often retold the story of Winston Churchill visiting his old school, Harrow during the second world war.
